About these terms
These terms apply to H.O.P.E. Ministries (Helping Others and Providing Encouragement), a church app for practical help and prayer on iPhone, Android and the web. H.O.P.E. Ministries is built and operated by Rivanna Technologies LLC, doing business as Rivanna Works (“we”, “us”), for the churches that use it (each “the church”). The churches using H.O.P.E. Ministries are Mountain View Chapel in Madison, Virginia.
By using H.O.P.E. Ministries, you agree to these terms and to the H.O.P.E. Ministries Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Who may use the app
H.O.P.E. Ministries is for adults who have a record in the Planning Center directory of a church that uses it. The church decides who is in its directory and who serves as a leader or administrator in the app. Your access ends once you are no longer an active member in your church's directory. We or the church may also suspend or end access for anyone who misuses the app.
Signing in
You sign in with a one-time link and code sent to the email address or mobile number on your church record, or with your Planning Center login. Keep your codes to yourself and do not sign in as anyone else. If you think someone else has used your account, tell your church office or us.
Sign-in text messages
Program: H.O.P.E. Ministries sign-in codes. If you enter a mobile number on the sign-in screen, you agree to receive a one-time sign-in text from H.O.P.E. Ministries, sent only when you ask for one. These are the only texts the program sends: no marketing, reminders or news.
- Message frequency varies with how often you sign in.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to opt out. You will get one text confirming it, and no more. After you opt out, you can still sign in by email.
- Reply HELP for help, call (540) 395-3149 or use our contact form.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Your mobile number and text-message opt-in information are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Using the app well
When you use H.O.P.E. Ministries, you agree to:
- Post needs and prayer requests honestly, and share another person's details only with their permission
- Use the names, addresses and phone numbers you see only to give the help you signed up for, and not copy or pass them on
- Be kind and respectful: no harassment, threats, or hateful, obscene or commercial content
- Not try to get into parts of the app or information you are not allowed to see, or interfere with how it runs
Anyone can report a post. Church leaders may edit, hide or remove posts, and may close needs, to keep the app safe and on purpose.
Your posts
You keep responsibility for what you post. You allow us to store it and show it to the audience you choose and to church leaders, only to run H.O.P.E. Ministries. Needs and their history stay part of the church's record of help after your access ends, as the Privacy Policy describes.
Help between people
H.O.P.E. Ministries helps church members find and offer help. Volunteers take part by choice, and the arrangements they make are between the people involved and the church. We provide the software only: we do not screen volunteers, supervise the help given, or promise that a need will be met. Any background-check status shown in the app comes from the church's records. Use your own judgment when giving or receiving help.
H.O.P.E. Ministries is not for emergencies. If someone is in danger or needs urgent medical help, call 911.
Leaving
You can stop using H.O.P.E. Ministries at any time. Use Me → Settings → Leave H.O.P.E. Ministries in the app, or see Leave and delete your account to do it without the app.
Availability and changes
H.O.P.E. Ministries may change, pause or have errors. We may add, change or remove features, and we may end the service. If your church stops using H.O.P.E. Ministries, your access ends.
Disclaimers and limits on liability
H.O.P.E. Ministries is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, Rivanna Technologies LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for anything that happens in the course of help arranged through the app. H.O.P.E. Ministries is free for members to use, and our total liability to you for any claim about it is limited to $100.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Albemarle County, Virginia.
Apple and Google
These terms are between you and Rivanna Technologies LLC, not Apple or Google, and we, not they, are responsible for the app and its support. If you got the app from Apple's App Store, Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms as third-party beneficiaries.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell users in the app about significant changes. If you keep using H.O.P.E. Ministries after a change, you accept the new terms.
